About this coloring page

Jesus stands at the bow of a small wooden boat, one arm raised toward the sky. Around Him, the waves are huge and the wind is bending the sail. The disciples grip the sides of the boat, some looking terrified, some looking at Jesus. Dark storm clouds fill the upper half of the page, but directly above Jesus' raised hand, there's a break in the clouds with light coming through. Jesus had been asleep in the stern moments before this — now He's standing, commanding the storm. The dramatic contrast between the chaos of the waves and the calm of Jesus' posture makes this one of the most visually striking pages in the set.

Suggested Scripture: Mark 4:39 (NIV) — He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

The page is designed as a printable Christian coloring activity that can support a short Bible conversation, a family devotional moment, or a calm classroom activity.

Teaching ideas for parents and teachers

  • Before coloring, ask kids what they would do if they were in a boat in a huge storm. Most will say "panic" or "pray." Then ask why the disciples woke Jesus up instead of just praying themselves.
  • For ages 5–7: keep it simple. The disciples were scared, and they woke Jesus up. He told the storm to stop — and it did. Jesus is bigger than the storms in our lives too.
  • For Sunday school: focus on Jesus' question afterward: "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" Ask, "What's the difference between fear and faith? Can you have both at the same time?"
  • For family devotion: read Mark 4:35–41. Ask, "What's one 'storm' our family is in right now? What would it look like to let Jesus speak into it?"

Print and activity tips

  • Color the storm clouds in deep grays and dark blues — press hard to make them feel heavy and threatening.
  • Use bright whites and yellows for the break in the clouds above Jesus' hand; the contrast is the whole visual story.
  • Color the waves in dark, churning blues and greens, with white caps to suggest violent movement.

Discussion questions

  • The disciples woke Jesus up and said, "Don't you care if we drown?" Have you ever felt like God didn't care about your storm?
  • Jesus rebuked the wind and waves like they were people. What does that tell you about His authority?
  • After the storm stopped, the disciples were more afraid than before. Why do you think that is?
  • What's one storm in your life right now that you need Jesus to speak into?
  • Jesus was asleep in the storm. What does it mean that He could sleep through it?
