About this coloring page

Jesus stands in a gentle pose, cradling a small lamb in His arms. The lamb is calm, its head resting against Jesus' chest. Jesus' expression is tender, and one hand supports the lamb's body while the other strokes its back. The background is a soft hillside with a few scattered flowers and a hint of distant trees. This is one of the most tender pages in the entire set — no action, no crowd, just the quiet bond between shepherd and sheep. The lamb's wool gives kids lots of soft, swirly texture to color, while Jesus' robe stays simple and flowing.

Suggested Scripture: John 10:11 (NIV) — I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

The page is designed as a printable Christian coloring activity that can support a short Bible conversation, a family devotional moment, or a calm classroom activity.

Teaching ideas for parents and teachers

  • Before coloring, ask kids what a good shepherd does. Most will say "takes care of the sheep." Then ask what Jesus meant when He called Himself the good shepherd.
  • For ages 5–7: keep it gentle. Jesus loves us like a shepherd loves his sheep. He holds us close and keeps us safe.
  • For Sunday school: focus on the "lays down his life" part. Ask, "What does it mean that a shepherd would die for his sheep? And why would Jesus say that about Himself?"
  • For family devotion: read John 10:11–15. Ask, "What's one way Jesus has been a 'good shepherd' for our family?"

Print and activity tips

  • Color the lamb's wool in soft whites and creams, with the slightest gray shading for depth.
  • Use warm, earthy tones for Jesus' robe — tans, browns, soft reds.
  • Add small flowers in the grass with tiny dots of pink, yellow, and purple; it makes the hillside feel alive.

Discussion questions

  • Why do you think Jesus compared Himself to a shepherd instead of, say, a king or a warrior?
  • Sheep aren't the smartest animals. They get lost easily. What does that say about us?
  • The lamb in Jesus' arms looks calm. Have you ever felt that calm with Jesus?
  • What's the difference between being a hired hand and being a good shepherd?
  • If you were the lamb in this picture, what would you want to say to Jesus?
