About this coloring page

Jesus stands at the edge of a body of water, holding a basket of fish in one hand and distributing them to a crowd with the other. The crowd is drawn as a few representative figures — a woman holding a child, an older man, a young boy — all reaching toward Jesus. The water behind is calm with a few ripples, and one or two boats are visible in the distance. This page captures a less-common moment: Jesus providing food, with fish as the main element. The fish in the basket, the varied faces in the crowd, and the water textures give kids plenty to color while the focus stays on Jesus' generosity.

Suggested Scripture: Matthew 14:19 (NIV) — And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.

The page is designed as a printable Christian coloring activity that can support a short Bible conversation, a family devotional moment, or a calm classroom activity.

Teaching ideas for parents and teachers

  • Before coloring, ask kids what they know about Jesus feeding people. Most will say "five thousand." Then ask what they remember about the fish specifically.
  • For ages 5–7: keep it simple. Jesus took what a little boy had — five loaves and two fish — and made it enough for everyone.
  • For Sunday school: focus on the order. Jesus looked up to heaven, gave thanks, then broke the bread. Ask, "Why do you think He thanked God before the miracle happened?"
  • For family devotion: read Matthew 14:13–21. Ask, "What's one small thing in our family that God could multiply if we gave it to Him?"

Print and activity tips

  • Color the fish in the basket in silvery grays and blues — they should look fresh and real.
  • Give each person in the crowd a different skin tone and different colored clothes; this miracle was for everyone.
  • Use soft greens for the grass where the crowd sits; it should feel like a picnic, not a rushed meal.

Discussion questions

  • The boy gave his lunch to Jesus. What's something you have that you could give to Jesus to share with others?
  • Jesus gave thanks before the food was multiplied. What does that tell you about how He thought about God's power?
  • There were twelve baskets of leftovers afterward. Why do you think God always provides more than enough?
  • Have you ever shared something small that ended up helping more people than you expected?
  • What's one thing you're thankful for right now that you could say out loud before a meal?
