Create My Child's PageAbout this coloring page
Peter and John stand at the entrance of the tomb, just having arrived. John leans forward, peering inside without going in, while Peter steps past him to look closer. The burial cloths lie folded on the stone shelf where Jesus' body had been. The morning light is bright but soft, and the pathway leading up to the tomb is dotted with small wildflowers. The two disciples look stunned — not yet rejoicing, just trying to take it in. This page captures the in-between moment between confusion and understanding, and it gives kids a chance to study two very different reactions side by side.
Suggested Scripture: John 20:8 (NIV) — Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.
The page is designed as a printable Christian coloring activity that can support a short Bible conversation, a family devotional moment, or a calm classroom activity.

Create a personalized Jesus coloring pageTeaching ideas for parents and teachers
- Before coloring, ask kids to look at Peter and John. They had the same information, but they reacted differently. Ask, "Which one are you more like?"
- For ages 5–7: tell the simple version. Two of Jesus' best friends ran to the tomb early in the morning. They found it empty. Slowly, they started to believe.
- For Sunday school: focus on the line "He saw and believed." John didn't need anything else. Peter, on the other hand, would still struggle for a while. Ask, "What's the difference between seeing and believing?"
- For family devotion: read John 20:1–10. Ask, "Has there ever been a moment when something just clicked for you spiritually?"
Print and activity tips
- Color Peter in slightly bolder tones, John in softer ones — they had different personalities, and the page can reflect that.
- Use a warm golden light on the path leading up to the tomb to suggest the freshness of early morning.
- Color the burial cloths in pure white, with just hints of shadow — they should look untouched and intentional.
Discussion questions
- Peter and John ran. Why do you think they didn't walk?
- John saw the cloths and believed. Peter had to think about it longer. Which way is more like you?
- What do you think they said to each other on the walk back home?
- The Bible says they "did not yet understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead." What does that tell you about how God reveals truth — slowly, not all at once?
- Has there been something you didn't understand spiritually until later? What changed?
