Create My Child's PageAbout this coloring page
This is the classic nativity moment, drawn warmly. Mary kneels beside the manger with her hands folded in prayer, Joseph stands just behind her holding a small lantern, and baby Jesus lies wrapped in cloth on a bed of hay. Around them, the wooden walls of the stable open up to a starry sky, and a small ox and donkey rest quietly in the back. The lantern's glow gives kids a chance to use yellows and warm oranges in the foreground while keeping the rest of the scene in cooler night tones. It's a tender page, more about stillness than spectacle.
Suggested Scripture: Luke 2:7 (NIV) — and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
The page is designed as a printable Christian coloring activity that can support a short Bible conversation, a family devotional moment, or a calm classroom activity.

Create a personalized Jesus coloring pageTeaching ideas for parents and teachers
- Before coloring, ask kids what they know about the very first Christmas. Most will jump to wise men and shepherds — gently bring them back to the small, quiet scene first.
- For ages 5–7: this page is perfect for the simple version of the story. God's Son was born in a barn, with animals around Him, and that was on purpose.
- For Sunday school: focus on the manger itself. A manger is a feeding trough — Jesus was placed where animals eat. Ask, "Why do you think God chose that for His Son's first bed?"
- For family devotion: read Luke 2:1–7 together by candlelight if you can. The mood matters as much as the words.
Print and activity tips
- Color the lantern's glow first in soft yellow, then color the surrounding stable in slightly darker tones — it makes the lantern feel alive.
- Leave the baby Jesus and his cloths in the lightest colors on the page; he should be the brightest thing in the scene.
- Add a small star above the stable roof using a metallic pen or gel pen if you have one — kids love this final touch.
Discussion questions
- Why do you think God chose a stable instead of a palace?
- Mary was probably very tired. What do you think she was thinking when she first held Jesus?
- Joseph wasn't Jesus' biological father, but he raised Him. What does that tell us about what makes a good father?
- The animals were there for the birth of God's Son. What do you think they thought?
- What's your favorite part of Christmas — and is it something you can share with someone else this year?
